COVID 19 Vaccination

Newcastle Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group (NG CCG) is working with Public Health at Newcastle Council to ensure we maximise the vaccination opportunities and ensure access for all across Newcastle. To do this, Newcastle Gateshead CCG (NG CCG) is asking Practices to allow data to be shared in a very safe and controlled manner with Public Health Team at Newcastle City Council. The reason for this is to provide intelligence to Newcastle City Council so they can fully understand where resources need to be in order to ensure we maximise the safety and wellbeing of residents across Newcastle. A team within Public Health with get in touch with those who have not yet been vaccinated to ensure they can provide every opportunity to benefit from the vaccine appropriately and also map the areas which need access to the Vaccination Bus, Covid Champions etc. We hope this approach will ensure as many people are vaccinated before the proposed lockdown restrictions are lifted on 21 June.

The COVID 19 Notice (The COPI Notice) issued by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care on 20 March 2020 requires organisations to process confidential patient information for issues such as this. We would like to reassure patients that everyone working for the NHS has a legal obligation to keep information about you confidential.

How to access your COVID-19 vaccination status

Through the NHS App

You can access your COVID-19 vaccination status through the free NHS App from 17 May. You can access the app through mobile devices such as a smartphone or tablet.

Proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status will be shown within the NHS App. We recommend that you register with the app before booking international travel.

By calling 119

If you do not have access to a smartphone and know that the country you are travelling to requires COVID-19 vaccination status, you can call the NHS helpline on 119 (from 17 May) and ask for a letter to be posted to you. This must be at least 5 working days after you’ve completed your course of the vaccine. We expect the letter to take up to 5 working days to reach you.

The letter will be sent automatically to the address registered with your GP. The 119 call handler you speak to will not be able to see your address to check this with you. If you’ve recently moved house, make sure you’ve given your new address to your GP practice before calling 119.

Please do not contact your GP surgery about your COVID-19 vaccination status. GPs cannot provide letters showing your COVID-19 vaccination status.

Please see https://www.gov.uk/guidance/demonstrating-your-covid-19-vaccination-status-when-travelling-abroad for further information.
